There is at least one thing upon which most Americans agree: We disdain corrupt political favors. Though it isn't as frequent as the media suggests, politicians are sometimes paid off, and laws are written to benefit special interests.

The song Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems by Notorious B.I.G. has always held a special place in my heart and on my iPod, mostly because I find humor in such a terrible song proclaiming such raw truth. The hit is elementary, but speaks volumes to the human condition.

I hope that it is clear from (and in) my on-going “Bible & Economics” series that my entire goal is to articulate how I—a young evangelical who takes his faith and duty as a citizen of a free nation—arrived at being entirely comfortable calling myself a free-market conservative.

This quote: "Capitalism without bankruptcy is like Christianity without hell" is quite popular with people on the right and on the left when talking about bankruptcy. Its potency comes from the association with Christianity and a belief in hell. Metaphysically, a belief in good necessitates a belief in evil.
Global Affairs
In response to Christ’s calling in Matthew 25 to care for “the least of these,” the Church often responds by raising money and donating materials to impoverished communities. Though the intentions are good, the unintended consequences are often unnoticed.

I attended last month’s V&C event “Left, Right and Christ,” and there’s one characterization by Lisa Sharon Harper that I’m still stuck on. She repeatedly spoke about the ability of public policy to “bless” and “curse” certain populations...
